Denver Municipal Court

General Sessions And The Denver City Court

The city of Denver maintains its own court system, known as the Municipal Court of Denver or Denver General Sessions. Like other cities, Denver is big on control, wanting to regulate many areas of citizen conduct not controlled by state law. These laws are gathered in the Municipal Code of Denver. There are many benefits to the cities, but the main one is revenue. Court costs, fines and probation supervision fees all flow from the convicted person to the city of Denver.

Below, we’ve listed most of the municipal code of Denver, as it pertains to criminal offenses. Study these offenses prior to coming to court. Also, remember that just because you are charged with one of these Denver municipal code violations, does not mean you violated the law, or that you don’t have a defense. The worst thing you can do is to walk into court and plead guilty, since there are always a variety of pleas you can take, and a variety of consequences, depending on how your plea is structured. Structuring a plea to avoid harm to your criminal record is important. Come and meet with a Denver municipal code criminal defense lawyer. It is free, and important to your future.
