General Sessions Denver Lawyer – Misdemeanor Cases Handled Here

Denver’s city court is known as General Sessions Municipal Court, and handles many types of city misdemeanor crimes. No felony cases are handled here – just those which are based on city misdemeanor charges. Instead of a District Attorney, you will find a City Attorney who prosecutes offenders. Anyone arrested will be held at the Denver Van Cise-Simonet Detention Center (more below on the jail and courtrooms).

General Sessions Denver Court Case Examples

General Sessions handles cases like misdemeanor Assault, Battery, Prostitution and Trespassing.  Denver General Sessions Municipal Criminal Case List. These cases are the least serious of those occurring in the Denver courts, yet they can still get you up to a year in jail. Protect your criminal record by getting one of our General Sessions Municipal Court lawyers involved in your case early.

Municipal Court in Denver – City Code Laws, Not State of Colorado Laws

Our Municipal Court lawyers regularly travel to Denver in defense of our clients charged with violations of the Denver Municipal Code laws. These laws are designed to reflect the needs of the large Denver city population. Denver has a very busy city court system, which borders on overflowing. IMPORTANT: city criminal cases are heard both at the jail and at the Lindsay Flannigan Courthouse across the courtyard.

Denver City Jail Attorney for the Van Cise-Simonet Detention Center

Often, people charged with General Session and other crimes are arrested and held at the Denver City Jail – Van Cise-Simonet Detention Center. This building houses both the Denver Jail, and two courtrooms, upstairs. Rather than take inmates to the nearby court, initial hearings are conducted upstairs at the jail, in courtrooms 2100 and 2300. Check here first for early court hearings when someone is in jail, not across the courtyard at the main criminal courthouse.

Our lawyers are in the Denver Jail and Denver courts every week. If you have a case in these courts, or need someone local to visit your family member in the Denver Jail, give us a call at 303-731-0719. Together, we can protect your future.
