A Denver Colorado Resident was arrested following allegations of Leaving the Scene of an Accident (Hit and Run), Careless Driving Resulting in Death, and Careless Driving Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury. As seen in a video on Fox News‘ website, the suspect turned in front of an oncoming motorcycle without looking, causing the motorcycle to run into the truck, fatally injuring the operator. After the motorcycle hit the vehicle, the driver of the vehicle continued on for fifty more feet, before fleeing the vehicle on foot and leaving behind two passengers.
The Colorado Resident and alleged driver had a previous conviction of Drunk Driving that resulted in 12 months probation within Larimer County. His probation was later revoked, requiring him to serve five days in the Fort Collins, Colorado, Larimer County jail, and another year of probation. Repeat offenders will typically be sentenced more harshly in cases like this Hit and Run.
Traffic violations of this nature are taken with great care, if found guilty of Leaving the Scene of an Accident, the driver will be facing a class-3 felony, sentencing for which could be anywhere between 4 and 12 years in Colorado Department of Corrections. Additionally, if a repeat offender and having his parole formerly revoked, if found guilty, the man will be serving out most of his sentence without being parole eligible. Section 42-4-1601, C.R.S.
