Charged With A Crime? It Doesn’t Mean You’re Guilty.

Reading Women & Unlawful Sexual Contact, C.R.S. 18-3-404

On Behalf of | Jul 19, 2012 | Unlawful Sexual Contact |

Men, we all know it is next to impossible to read a woman. So, you’d better be positive sexual contact with her is ok with her. Unlawful Sexual Contact, C.R.S. 18-3-404, in Jefferson, Denver and Adams County involves “knowingly subjecting a victim to any sexual contact IF the actor knows that the victim does not consent”. Sexual contact involves touch of a woman’s breast, buttocks or pubic region. If there are allegations by her that she did not consent to touch in these areas, you will likely be charged with a sexual offense.

Beyond knowing that she consents, you must read her well enough to know that she is not the kind of woman who will lie about the sexual contact afterwards. I frequently have cases in Douglas, Weld, Larimer, Arapahoe and Douglas County where women consent to sexual contact, and then, in the face of discovery of the sexual encounter, allege that they did not consent. They have a boyfriend who is upset or face shame with family members finding out. They try to save face by asserting that they were too drunk to consent and that they were taken advantage of. In the most serious cases, they allege they were raped without concern that it may cost a man his life. All they are concerned about is saving face.

You must find a woman that you can love and stay with. One night encounters seem glamorous and the stuff of a James Bond movie, but when you wake up in jail you will realize the glamor was not worth it. Long-term relationships offer stability, knowing someone deeply and being known deeply. Yes, they come with a price. You can’t go out and have sex with other women each night and it is hard work to be in a relationship. You are damaged goods and so is she. It takes time to overcome our brokenness and achieve the oneness we were designed for.

Sexual offense convictions for things like Unlawful Sexual Contact or Sexual Assault result in government control over every aspect of your life under the evil (I really mean that word) practices of the Colorado Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB). With that organization, people will control every aspect of your life. They will destroy your career without concern. They will kill your relationship with your kids without concern. They will break up your marriage for no good reason. Under the excuse “community safety”, they will go overboard and act without concern for the big picture of your life or your community’s well being.
