Denver Enticement of a Child - A Recipe for Police Entrapment

Police are given reward, promotions and career advancement when they make arrests. One of the most fertile grounds for police pursuit of job benefits is the internet. They enter ADULT chat rooms and subtly pretend to be children. Then, men who are looking for a sexual relationship fall prey into a conversation with the "child". The result is an arrest for Enticement of a Child.

Elements of Enticement of a Child

Entrapment can be argued as a defense to Enticement of a Child, C.R.S.18-3-305, charges, but police will do their best to manipulate the conversation so as to avoid this legal defense. The criminal charge Enticement of a Child is charged when a person:

  • invites or persuades, or attempts to invite or persuade,
  • a child under the age of fifteen years,
  • to enter any vehicle, building, room or secluded place,
  • with the intent to commit sexual assault or unlawful sexual contact upon said child.

Police Entrapment in Adult Chat Rooms

Once an officer, detective, investigator or sheriff deputy gets involved in the conversation within the ADULT chat room, they will try to engage others in conversation. They will then try and accomplish or raise each of the elements listed above. This means the law enforcement officer will need to suggest an invitation, make sure and mention their age as less than fifteen, and hint that sex should occur. It is a tricky process, but doable after learning through trial and error. All through this process, police walk a fine line of Entrapment.

Men need to be on guard in chat rooms. This Colorado sex offense is a serious crime, with mandatory sex offender treatment and the possibility of an indeterminate sentence to the Colorado Department of Corrections. Life as a sex offender in our state is nearly impossible to endure, as probation officers and treatment providers require you to register, tell your employer of your sex offense (often getting a person fired), leave your home because your kids are there, and engage in mind control. While all this is done in the name of "community safety", it has more to do with protecting the probation officer's job should anything go wrong with a probationer.

Our lawyers will pick apart the transcript of a person's conversation with police and analyze it against Entrapment law and Colorado law. Don't be a victim of Colorado's horrendous sex offender laws.
