Is a Christian Criminal Lawyer Wimpy?

I get the impression people in trouble for a crime want a hard hitting lawyer and think Christian attorneys should be avoided because they are wimpy. "Hard hitting" just sounds tough and we want someone strong behind us when we are facing jail or prison.

As an experienced Christian Criminal attorney practicing criminal law in Denver, Jefferson and Arapahoe County, I don't go swinging wildly into the courtroom. I don't put on a show to impress my clients, but act appropriate to impress the judge. Judges are experienced and know who is putting on a show. Judges respect people of character because they don't want to get burned in a Sexual Assault, C.R.S. 18-3-402, Robbery, C.R.S. 18-4-301, or Theft, C.R.S. 18-4-401, case. If burned, a judge could lose their job.

Judges and District Attorneys make decisions based on legal principles, self preservation, and relationships. They are not inclined to respond to emotional displays in the courtroom. If an experienced Christian lawyer can tailor his arguments to good legal judgment and with a concern for the judge's or DA's desire to keep their job, great results occur. The lawyer must focus on the government's underlying fear that if they take a chance on a defendant, and the defendant reoffends, they could lose their job. No judge or DA wants a television or newspaper headline that a defendant they released reoffended and sexually assaulted someone.

As a Christian criminal lawyer in Adams, Douglas and Broomfield County courts, I strive to understand the law well, present my case professionally, and maintain good relationships. While the relationship component is not always possible (imagine a DA at trial being underhanded in their case), after 21 years of law practice I have learned how to present a winning argument to a court. Why? Because the God of the universe has blessed me as I seek Him out and strive to obey Him.

I can't tell you that all Christian attorneys are the best at what they do, but I can assure you that I know criminal law well, and that ultimately I am answerable to God for how I treat you. My conscience before God guides me, not a profit motive. I want to treat you and others in the judicial system well, because I know that is pleasing to Jesus and our Father. With that high standard (being answerable to God), I will strive to do the right thing for you, and that is not wimpy.

If you have been charged with a criminal offense, be smart, exercise your right to remain silent, and call me at 303-731-0719. Together, with God's help, we can protect your future.
