Another beautiful Colorado Thanksgiving is upon us, and like most people we like to reflect on the many ways in which we are thankful. While it is a very challenging, and sometimes frustrating job, being criminal defense attorneys is also a profound blessing. Clients come to us at times in their lives that are incredibly difficult and scary, and we are able to stand beside them and fight for their rights. Sometimes our clients have been falsely accused of crimes like Sexual Assault (C.R.S. 18-3-402) or Harassment (C.R.S. 18-9-111), and sometimes they are very good people who have made a mistake. Whatever the case may be, each of them needs to know that they are not alone while they are prosecuted by the Adams, Denver, or Broomfield County District Attorney.
As criminal defense attorneys, we are especially thankful that one of our client's charges were dismissed by the Grand County District Attorney. This case, involving Prohibited Use of Weapons (C.R.S. 18-12-106), was one of the more ridiculous cases we have seen filed, and we have been working hard for months trying to make the prosecutors see the error in forcing our client to trial. Finally, they came to their senses, and our client can spend the holidays being a lot more thankful and a lot less frightened.
To our clients throughout Colorado, thank you. Thank you for trusting us during incredibly difficult times. God has truly blessed us with clients who have become friends. For those of you who are facing criminal charges this holiday season in Douglas, Jefferson, or Arapahoe County, please know that you are not alone. As criminal defense attorneys at the O'Malley Law Office, we will stand beside you as you and fight for your rights and your freedom. So if you are contacted by law enforcement, be smart, exercise your right to remain silent, and call us today at 303-731-0719. Together, we can protect your future. Happy Thanksgiving.
