Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested at DIA

A sexual assault suspect from Lakewood, Colorado, wanted for attacking an 18-year-old woman, was arrested at Denver International Airport in Colorado this week when he returned from a trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.  TheDenverChannel.com, (Channel 7 News) reported that Jose Manuel Rodriguez, 30, was arrested at DIA by customs and border protection officers as he was arriving on a Frontier Flight.  Custom officials had a "hit" on Rodriguez' name on a federal database of active warrants, said the U.S. Customs and Border Protection office.  "The subject was found to be a registered sex offender and had an outstanding warrant of arrest issued out of Lakewood, Colorado for four counts of sexual assault," a custom's officeal said.

After his identity was verified and he was confirmed to be the same Rodriguez wanted on the warrant, he was taken into custody by Denver, Colorado police.  The warrant accuses Rodriguez of sexually assaulting a teen at a party in Lakewood, Colorado, a police spokesman said.  The 18-year-old girl had gone to a party with family friends and there was some drinking involved and when she went upstairs to lie down, Rodriguez went into the room where she was sleeping.  Rodriguez faces two charges of sexual contact on a helpless victim, and two counts of sexual contact on a victim incapable of appraising.

When reading medial articles such as this one about Mr. Rodriguez, it is easy for the public to only get only one side of the story.  When we are contacted regarding an accusation of sexual assault, we fully investigate the allegations.  As Colorado criminal defense lawyers, we interview all the witnesses, not just those favorable to the government, or those mentioned in incomplete police reports.  Our investigators are thorough, and have a strong interest in your defense, not your prosecution.  We are here to protect your rights and we will listen to you.

If you are arrested or contacted by the police for sexual crime, be smart, exercise your right to remain silent, and call us at 303-731-0719.  Together we can protect your future.
